Description: Join us as we discuss and learn hands-on the fundamentals of photography. From maximizing the controls of your camera to creating better compositions, we will be learning hands-on how to improve your skills as a photographer. After learning some basics, we will then venture out into the Arts District on a photo walk to put our skills to the test. Please bring a digital or film camera to use during the workshop. LESSONS:
Part 1:
• What is photography?
• Camera basics (camera modes, light meter, exposure fundamentals (aperture/depth of field, shutter/capturing motion, ISO))
• Optimizing the use of your camera (what mode to use, what focus function to use)
• Using natural light (natural light, backlight, shade light, golden light, lens flare, harsh & soft light, indoor lighting - mixing light sources, white balance)
• Posing & angles
Part 2:
• Elements of Composition (Rule of Thirds, color, space, framing, perspective, patterns/texture, symmetry, depth of field, lines, balance)
